How to Get to Angel Stadium:

  1. Closest Airport: John Wayne International Airport (SNA)
    • SNA is the closest airport to Angel Stadium. However, it is accessible from other airports in the LA area, such as Los Angeles International (LAX) or Ontario International Airport (ONT) located in Ontario, CA. Please note landing in any other part of the greater LA metropolitan area can easily add hours of travel time due to traffic.
    • SNA is serviced by most commercial airlines, including Delta, Southwest, American, United, and Allegiant.
      • Also, a special note for those flying out of SNA; this airport is not for the faint of heart. Because of local noise ordinances and a shorter runaway than average, take-off from SNA is very steep and much different than normal take off. If you have any aversion to flying (like Brittany), I would highly recommend flying out of a different LA airport, or even driving down to San Diego to catch a Padres game, and flying out of there.
  2. Easiest Airport: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
    • LAX is the 2nd busiest airport in the United States, as is a hub for the most airlines in the US: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. LAX is also a focus city for Allegiant Air, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines.
    • LAX is the obvious choice when flying into the greater Los Angeles area, although not always your best option depending on where in LA you want to be. That being the case, I would highly recommend checking out SNA first, but if all else fails or the cheapest option by far is LAX, then be prepared to hit some traffic!
    • Angel Stadium is 40 miles by car from LAX via the 405, CA-22 and CA-57.
    • Public transportation on the West Coast is less than ideal. From LAX to Angel Stadium you have a few options, but each are as confusing as the next, with the shortest trip around 2 hours.
      • LAX Flayaway has a bus to transport passengers from the airport to LA Union Station or Van Nuys.
        • A one-way ticket is $9.75 for an adult and for children under 5.
      • From the LA Union Station you would have to transfer to the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak line to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center.
        • A one-way ticket is $16 for an adult and $8 for a child.
  3. Driving Directions:
    • Driving in Los Angeles is not ideal. Angel Stadium is located in Anaheim, pinched in-between Santa Ana, Fullerton, Orange, Buena Park, the list goes on.
    • From the North and South, Anaheim is accessible via I-5 and I-15.
      • If you are coming from the north, Anaheim is 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
      • If you are coming from the northeast, Anaheim is 110 miles from Barstow, California on I-15.
      • If you are coming from the south, Anaheim is 95 miles from San Diego, California on I-5.
    • From the East, Anaheim is accessible via I-10.
      • If you are coming from the east, Anaheim is 350 miles from Phoenix on I-10.

Anaheim

You could spend weeks checking out everything there is to do in Los Angeles and/or Anaheim, and I highly encourage you to, but for this segment I’ll be focusing mainly on what there is to do near Angel Stadium and how to incorporate that into a trip to the game. If you’re also interested in what to do in Los Angeles, be sure to check out my page on Dodger Stadium, which is situated in LA proper. The biggest attraction in Anaheim is undoubtable Disney Land. Disney Land is a massive theme park that has numerous other “parks,” such as Disney California Adventure Park, Fantasmic, Radiator Springs Racers, Downtown Disney District, and many other parks. If your stay can’t accommodate a trip to Disney Land, there’s plenty more to discover in the area, such as the Anaheim Packing District and Plaza Park in Orange that has many food options for a pre/post game meal.
